To celebrate the Camping & Caravanning Club’s 125th anniversary, they are launching a special storytelling competition: 'Our Anniversary, Your Story'.
They are inviting campers from all walks of life to share their most memorable camping moments—whether it’s a magical wildlife encounter, a family mishap that still makes you laugh, or the story of how camping became a cherished family tradition passed down through generations.
Do you have a story like that?
If camping has been part of your life since childhood, or if you’re part of a family where the camping gene runs strong, the Club’s PR team would love to hear from you. Stories could include a family get togethers, a family comedy mishap or even a memorable wildlife encounter.
And of course, there’s something in it for you too—ten lucky storytellers will each win a £125 Club Site voucher.
If you’re interested in being interviewed or would like to share your story, please get in touch with Andrew Robson at:
andrew.robson@campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk
Also, share them with us on our Facebook Page, we can’t wait to hear your stories—after all, 125 years of camping magic starts with campers like you.
Countryside Care Work Party at Windermere Club Site
4th–10th March
The annual countryside care work party at the Windermere Club Site took place from 4th to 10th March, with fantastic support from members of Lakeland DA and North East Cheshire DA.
Their hard work and enthusiasm made a real difference across the site.
Work Completed
A wide range of tasks were tackled throughout the week, including:
Painting woodwork, fences & buildings
Repairing sections of dry-stone walling
Clearing debris from trees and shrubbery
Removing blockages and debris from the onsite stream
Cleaning all site signage and electrical/lighting posts
🤝 Team Spirit
The comradery throughout the week was outstanding. Everyone rolled up their sleeves and worked tirelessly to help get the site looking its best ahead of reopening on 14th March.
We received a lovely message from the Treasurer of Wasdale Mountain Rescue (Our 2025 charity):
"Many thanks for your recent donation of £791.85 to our funds. It is a most generous contribution and really appreciated.
The team members, who are all volunteers, are most grateful for your gift. The team covers both Wasdale and Eskdale valleys. We rely entirely on donations from people like yourself.
The money will go towards the cost of maintaining our equipment and equipping new members, so we can continue to help those in need in our area of the fells.
Yours sincerely
John Noake
